Child Care Occupations - Beginning

Learn child development, positive discipline techniques and skills for working with children to become aides in children's centers and schools.   Students who achieve competencies required may be eligible for advanced placement and/or credit at Mt. San Antonio or Chaffey Colleges.

Child Care Occupations - Advanced
This class will give continuing students the opportunity to do more hands-on activities and apply some of the concepts learned in the beginning child care occupations program. Students will go to day care centers and elementary schools to get additional first hand experience. Certificate of completion will be issued to those students who complete the program.

Business Career Exploration
Students explore appropriate employability and job specific skill training i a variety of service and manufacturing occupations.  Emphasis will be on Education & Teaching Careers, Health & Medical Science, Media & Technology and Energy & Transportation.  Training will be provided through classroom instruction and on-the-job experiences.

Fire Technology/Wildland Firefighting
An entry-level course is designed to prepare students for employment within the U.S. Forest Service, as a seasonal Wildland Fire Fighter. Emphasis will be placed on fire behavior, safety, tools and equipment, patrol, air support and First Aid/CPR.

Hospitality Foods - Beginning
Classroom instruction and hands-on experience teach inventory control, financial checks and balances and local health department regulations for the food service industry.  Students will also have the opportunity to move into an advanced level.

Law Enforcement
Identify the various roles in the criminal justice system:  police, courts and corrections.  Learn the sub systems and procedures from the initial police field contact to the courtroom verdict and final placement into the correctional or probation systems.

CSI Forensic/Criminal Justice
This class will prepare students with the role and responsibility of becoming a forensic scientist in the criminal justice system.  Students explore many avenues in law enforcement to help them select a career in the field.

American Sign Language
Students learn basics of ASL while developing an understanding of the deaf culture and community.  Basic signing techniques for alphabet, numbers and words, practice dialog/demonstrate basic comprehension and explore interpreting as a career.
