Craig Furlow
“I think I see my career and future more clearly now than ever before. This is because not only do I believe what I want to do is possible, but now I believe it is going to happen. ROP has contributed so much to me thinking this way because by doing projects and talking to my teacher, now I see that the world of art has so much more to offer. Now, I just have to go get it. One day I plan to have one of the biggest cartoons in the world.”

Viviana Graciano
“The ROP class I chose to undertake was Retail Occupations. This ROP class has helped me improve my communications skills. I now know what is expected of me in the work site and how to keep calm when somebody loses their temper with me. This class has prepared me to feel more confident in a job interview and has taught me first-hand what it takes to maintain a job.”

Amber Jackson
“The ROP Diversified Occupations class has helped me prepare for the real world. It helped me look at the work world from a whole new perspective. I’m now learning how to manage my money, write resumés, and how to keep a job. I feel I am ready for adult life and I can face challenges and be a successful person thanks to my teachers, Mrs. Kyne and Mrs. Chute.”

Karen Elmore, CNA
“My experience with the ROP Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) program has truly been a blessing in my life. It has helped me realize my dreams and allowed me to grow and mature in many ways. This program brought men and women together from all walks of life to care for the sick and elderly. The glue that bonded our class was Mrs. Joy Spaeth. Her gentle and loving manner is contagious. The academic aspects of the CNA program are excellent, and the opportunity to be involved with such a life-changing program is a true honor.”

“This ROP class has made an enormous difference in my life. It has given me skills in the most common office programs used. This class has allowed me to improve and perfect my existing skills. I know that what I have learned in this class will give me an advantage in the future. The knowledge that I have gained through San Antonio ROP is a stepping stone in my pursuit of additional education in the computer science field.”

Kathleen Harder
“Patti Marhoefer teaches more than child care occupations. She teaches you to be more like a teacher. I, being a mother of three, learned how to play and teach children at the same time. I have changed my way of parenting my own children, talking and compromising with them. I also learned it is never too late to return to school. I could never finish telling you how much and what I have learned from this class. The best part was the hands-on training. I got to work with children of different ages and intellect. Without the class, books, and help Patti provided, I would have been lost. I would like to think that before I leave school I was able to teach each child something that they won’t forget. I would also like to thank Patti for her wonderful teaching.”

Robert Jauregui
“The Law Enforcement Academy course through the ROP has enriched my knowledge of the various aspects of the criminal justice field. I have learned how the United States Constitution works and how it impacts everything a peace officer does in their job. This is a great program for those who are interested in the public safety field, like myself, because you get hands-on training. It has made a difference in my life because it helped me understand the career field and better prepared me for the future with valuable training. One day the training will help me obtain my goal of becoming a California Peace Officer. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity the ROP has given me in sponsoring this type of training.”

Kamerson Smith
“Being in the ROP Animation class has really helped me with my communication skills. With the help of a very skilled teacher, Mr. Bremer, I have learned to transform my ideas and thoughts into reality by creating projects that I thought would otherwise be impossible. Through the class I have learned a lot, like getting along with group members to get a project done, budgeting time and space, and most importantly, to never give up on your ideas and dreams. This class has been one of my most enjoyable. It has made me rethink my future plans as a teacher. Animation is a job I never really looked into, but now it’s a great possibility.”

Michael Yslas
“The ROP Internet Services Occupations course has opened up new career possibilities in the Internet and computer technology fields that I did not know existed. Because I took this ROP class, I have seriously considered majoring in computer technology and going to a college that is known for its strength in computer engineering. This class has prepared me for a new age and a technologically-advanced workplace in which the Internet is used in so many different forms or fashions.”

“This ROP class has made a great difference in my life. I’ve learned how to deal with many responsibilities that teachers face, deal with problems efficiently and how to become an effective teacher since that is what I would love to be in the future. Tutoring the kids at Lexington Elementary School taught me techniques of how to improve my teaching skills and develop lesson plans. This class enabled me to experience everyday differences of what a teacher and a regular classroom setting share.”

Jamie Henderson
“After being in the ROP Athletic Training program for six months, I have been able to make some important decisions in my life. Coming into the class I was set on a path for my future, but I was unsure which trail to choose. After learning about the different rehabilitation and evaluation techniques in training, I realized that it was something I loved and wanted to do for the rest of my life. Because of this class, I have decided to major in Kinesiology next year in college.”

Lonnie Conner
“Being involved in the ROP has really been an advantage for me. I have learned all the steps in the screen printing process. I am starting my own clothing company, which works out perfectly, because I can now establish my own clothing. David Fackler is an exceptionally good teacher and I couldn’t have done it without him. I would recommend this program to anyone interested.”

Stephanie Thomas
“I have always wanted a career in business. This ROP accounting class has confirmed my choice of career. I have learned many things in this class. Besides regular accounting, I have also had the opportunity to train with the IRS for the VITA program completing tax returns for students, seniors and low-income families. ROP has made me very interested in a career in business even more than before. This is one class that I always look forward to coming to and learning something new!”

Liza Monique Viveros
“The Allied Medical Careers class has given me the opportunity to experience how a hospital is operated, and the various jobs available for people in the health profession. As a student, I wasn’t sure what to expect going into the hospital. In the Med-Surg unit I was shadowing an RN who was very informative regarding the various medications and procedures RNs perform on patients. On another rotation in the Emergency Room I had the opportunity to shadow a doctor. I got to see some things that I never would have seen if not for this program. Throughout the entire rotation every day was a new and different experience. Each and every one gave me a special insight into the world of healing. This whole encounter in the field of healthcare has shown me things that I never could have imagined. I am now more determined than ever to further my career as a nurse.”
